The Ontario Superior Court of Justice approved the Settlement in this action on May 21, 2026. A copy of the Court's reasons for approving the Settlement can be downloaded from the Documents tab of this website.

The Claims Process is now open. The Claim Form and other materials are available on the Documents tab of this website. Details about who may be eligible for compensation are available on the FAQ tab of this website and are also summarized in the short-form and long-form Notice of Settlement Approval, which can be downloaded from the Documents tab of this website.

The deadline to submit a Claim is September 22, 2027.

There are two types of Claims in this Settlement. You can make either a Track 1 or a Track 2 Claim, as described below:

Track 1 - compensation for general harm:

• For anyone
• Who resided at any of the Training Schools listed in the Claim Form
• During the time periods listed in the Claim Form
• Who experienced harm at any of the Training Schools listed in the Claim Form

Track 2 - compensation for physical and sexual assault, and solitary confinement:

• For anyone
• Who resided at any of the Training Schools listed in the Claim Form
• During the time periods listed in the Claim Form
• Who experienced physical or sexual assault or solitary confinement for certain durations, on or after September 1, 1963*

* Class Members who only attended a Training School prior to September 1, 1963 are only eligible to make a claim for compensation under Track 1.

Who is Class Counsel?

The Court has appointed Koskie Minsky LLP from Toronto as “Class Counsel.” If you need help making a Claim, you can contact Class Counsel at trainingschoolsclassaction@kmlaw.ca or by phone 1-866-860-9364 (toll free). Class Counsel can only assist you with issues related to the Settlement of the Class Action. You will not be charged for the services of these lawyers.

If you want to be represented by another lawyer, you may hire one at your own expense.
